SALARY: £35,000 - £42,000





The role is responsible for commissioning content for new Business & Management digital products for academic libraries. With a mix of strong commissioning, relationship-building, and project management skills, the job holder works both strategically and independently to deliver upon the signing goals on-time and within budget. The job holder also works effectively across the organisation to ensure that communication with relevant departments is maintained and content-delivery schedules are achieved.




• Responsible for the commissioning of content across Business & Management digital products, including text, video, and data content

• Contribute to the strategic editorial plans for new products in collaboration with the Executive Editor to achieve ambitious growth plans

• Negotiate contracts and other agreements with editors, authors, and contributors

• Deliver content on schedule and on budget, implement commissioning plans effectively and successfully

• Serve as a team player by collaborating with team members in development and launch of new products

• Prepare and provide to Marketing and Sales departments necessary product and competitor information to enable Marketing and Sales to formulate effective marketing plans

• Work effectively with peers to maximise opportunities for leveraging content from our network of authors, editors, societies

• Through course research, be aware of and highly capable of communicating the evolving pedagogical needs of the Business school

• Develop relationships and build a network of potential authors and editors

• Follow industry news, blogs, and other reports on Business & Management in higher education

• Be in communication with leading academics in discipline to ensure Business & Management products are based on market research.

• Define market research priorities, making campus visits, joining sales calls and conducting competitive research




• Significant years of related experience in an academic/college higher education

• Commissioning experience in Business & Management preferred

• Ability to plan, organise, analyse and establish priorities to achieve results

• Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment

• Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems

• Excellent professional written and oral communication skills

• Good relationship management skills

• Strong Microsoft Office skills

• Good organisation, research and troubleshooting skills

• Must be comfortable working in a remotely managed position

• Ability to plan and manage multiple projects and effectively multi-task

• Effective decision making

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diplomacy
