Role: Editorial Assistant

Location: London (Remote Cov19)

Salary: £22k to £28k

 

 

JOB PURPOSE: Editorial Assistant

To provide administrative and commissioning support to the commissioning editor by supporting them in their development of online products and day-to-day activities.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Editorial Assistant

The key accountabilities for this role are to:

• Contribute, in consultation with the commissioning editor, to the commissioning of content for SAGE Research Methods modules, including video modules, by helping with commissioning outreach to potential authors

• Carry out desk research to assist the commissioning editor in the conduct of market research and product research, including collating names of potential authors and reviewers

• Manage the peer review process, or review films for video collections, to ensure high quality of content

• Undertake a range of administrative duties that support timely delivery of content to production, including processing payments, effective tracking individual pieces of content and contracting.

• To develop positive relationships with and provide strong care to author/editor/content partners and internal colleagues to ensure content is delivered/commissioned to agreed deadlines.

• Collaborate with the content development, product management, marketing and production teams to ensure timely launch of each module.

• Contribute positively to departmental and cross departmental meetings and look for opportunities to improve workflows and processes.

 

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Editorial Assistant

• A graduate; or able to demonstrate relevant experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a fast-changing environment

• Able to work within tight time pressures

• Proficient use of the MS Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); and able to learn several internal IT systems.

• A good understanding of social science research methods is an advantage but not essential.
